Cannabichromene (CBC)
Also called cannabichrome, cannanbichromene, pentylcannabichromene or cannabinochromene, is one of the hundreds of cannabinoids found in the Cannabis plant, and is therefore a phytocannabinoid.
CBC has anti-inflammatory properties – can reduce edema (swelling) as well as inflammation of the intestinal tract. CBC appears to fight inflammation without activating cannabinoid receptors, CBC produces a stronger effect when combined with other cannabinoids. It also reduces pain, although it is not as strong as THC, but when used together can be synergistic.
Cannabichromene Medical Benefits
Cannabinoids like CBC have been found to effectively block pain and inflammation linked to collagen-induced arthritic pain. They operate differently on inflammation than non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), and do so without having the side effects these medications would have.
A recent animal study examined CBC in combination with THC, and found that the two had a significantly greater anti-inflammatory effect together than when they were studied separately.
