Cannabis Defoliation

cannabis defoliation

Cannabis defoliation is the process of removing leaves from your cannabis plants. Some growers call this “lollipopping” when applied to the bottom of the plant. Many growers believe defoliation can be used as a tool to increase overall cannabis yields indoors, but there are also a lot of cannabis growers who believe that defoliation is not as beneficial for your cannabis yields.

Defoliation is usually recommended to be done on the 1st and 21st day of flower to help increase light penetration to your canopy and help increase airflow as well. This also helps prevent your canopy from becoming too dense and thus trapping too much humidity, which can lead to mold or powdery mildew.
